Sailing school Ascona

Welcome at lake Maggiore

We gladly offer lessons of all kind: from the beginner’s course to regatta coaching, all is available.

For over 35 years, Scuola Vela Ascona—Asconautica have been offering professional schooling for driving sail- and motorboats.

For the most effective training and for responding at best to the requirements and skills of our customers, but also to be as flexible as possible on the agenda, our school is mainly based on private lessons. Week long courses are possible on request.

Course for sailing license

In general

In order to obtain a Swiss boat driving license, one first needs to pass a theoretical examination followed by a practical exam. The minimum age required is 14 years.

The theory can be studied autonomously. Alternatively to the official booklet (which also includes a online login key to access all the official questions), we suggest to download a app such as the products of “Boatdriver” from a app store.

In order to prepare for the practical examination, just get in touch with our office and we will fix the appointments for the on the water lessons for the D course as we go. We wish you a lot of fun and success.

Candidates domiciled in Ticino or abroad

Fill out the following form. Warning! On page 2, a visual test must be performed by a Swiss optician. In addition, you can order the official study book (see section 4.) which includes an online access code for all questions. As an alternative to official booklets, we recommend purchasing an app directly on your smartphone. For example https://www.boatdriver.ch/i/ or  https://www.bootspruefung24.ch/

Attaching 2 photos and a copy of a document, send the form to the Sezione della circolazione di Camorino.

Then you will get an information sheet with the dates for the theoretical exams.

After passing the theory exam, you can present yourself, in agreement with asconautica, to the practical exam at the port of Brissago every Monday at 14:00 without the need for an appointment.

Candidates domiciled in other Cantons

Request the registration form for the authorities of your Canton. Study the theory and do the theoretical exam in your Canton. Apply for an authorization to perform the practical exam in Ticino.
